Stain Colors

With all of our Amish furniture we offer the ability to customize the piece in the wood and stain of your choice.  We deal with 100% sustainable solid hardwoods such as oak, cherry, walnut, maple, hickory, and quarter sawn white oak and have all of the pieces Amish handcrafted here in the USA.  Each wood offers its own grains patterns and differences.  Fruitwood stain on oak will have a different appearance than fruitwood stain on brown maple.  Each item will have its own warmth and appearance with varying shades on the same piece and different grain patterns take the stain differently.  Below are some of the standard stain colors that we use on our furniture and cabinetry.  If you are interested in a color that you don’t see, please feel free to contact us and we will talk to you about custom stain color options.

Prior to order we will provide wood samples of the species and stains that interest you for your approval.

While we do our best to show how the stain colors will show on different woods on your furniture we ask clients to remember that each computer screen will show colors slightly different depending on settings.  Also when each piece is crafted that are slight variations in colors as they are applied to a piece of solid hard wood.  A majority of the time after we discuss custom furniture, tables or chairs with a client, we will send a sample piece to the customer so that they can see the color in their own lighting and make sure the color matches their expectations.

Occasionally a client needs a cabinet, table or chair with a stain color that does not match or isn’t complimented by one of the above standard stain colors.  When these occasions arise we ask the customer to send us a small sample of the color they are dreaming of or wish to match.  This sample can be a drawer front, cabinet door, or even something as simple as a scrap of molding.  Once we have the stain sample here we can match it up to some of our past custom colors.  If, by chance, the items stain does not match even our past custom colors we will then take it to our Amish stainers and have them custom match the color so that your furniture cabinet will fit your current decor perfectly.
